NEW: GROUP DISCUSSION

What to expect: 

Presentation topics are briefly introduced (1 minute) in front of the entire audience. Listeners can decide individually which presentation they want to follow. Each presenter explains their research to a small group of people sitting around a table. Prepare a five minute presentation, which can be illustrated by showing printed material or props. You then have ten minutes to discuss specific questions and get in-depth feedback from your audience.

It could be the right choice for you if:

  • You like to get feedback on your work

  • You are towards the beginning of your candidature

  • You like to interact with your audience

FULL LENGTH TALK

What to expect:

A ten minute presentation using PowerPoint slides, followed by a three minute question session.

​It could be the right choice for you if:

  • You are planning to give a presentation at a conference

  • You have results to present or are excited to share your literature review

  • You would like to build your presentation skills

 

FLASH TALK

What to expect:

A three to five minute talk without a question session. You can use PowerPoint slides.

It could be the right choice for you if:

  • You are planning on participating in the 3 minute thesis (3MT) competition

  • You are towards the beginning of your candidature

  • You like it short and sweet

 

POSTER PRESENTATION

What to expect: 

During the poster session you have time to discuss your research one-on-one with the audience.

It could be the right choice for you if:

  • You are planning to present a poster at a conference

  • You have results to present

  • You like to be creative to present your research proposal/literature review
